Kenton Manor care home in Newcastle, part of Solehawk, has been rated as ‘Good’ in all areas following its latest Care Quality Commission inspection.
The home provides nursing and personal care to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. During the assessment, inspectors spoke to residents, relatives and staff members.
The report noted that ‘People were supported to have maximum control and choice over their daily lives. Staff promoted independence by supporting people in the least restrictive way possible, always acting in their best interests.’
It stated that ‘There were effective systems and process in place to monitor, assess and improve the quality and safety of the service. Audits were carried out regularly, and action was taken where improvements were identified.’
Residents and their relatives spoke positively about the care and support provided by the home. Comments included ‘I’m happy with her care and service’ and ‘the care is very good and I do feel safe. The staff know me very well and they’re always smiling at me.’
The inspector said that ‘We observed staff treating people with kindness, compassion and respect. Staff responded promptly to people’s requests for assistance and were attentive to their individual needs, offering encouragement and support in a caring manner.’
